Regional Development Economist
Consultant job position
The OECD is an international organisation based in Paris with some 2000
staff. We are looking for a regional development economist to contribute to
the development of the OECD Territorial Database.
S/he will also carry out
analyses of economic issues related to regional and urban development. The
person will work under the supervision of the Head of the Territorial
Reviews and Governance Division in the Public Governance and Territorial
Carry out economic analysis of issues of current policy relevance in the
field of regional and urban development. The specific topics covered will
vary over time according to the Programme of Work defined by the Committee.
Tasks will include selecting and reviewing pertinent literature, analysing
case studies, drafting reports and articles summarising empirical knowledge
in the field of regional and urban economics, participating in the
conception and drafting of the OECD Territorial Reviews executed at the
metropolitan level and participating in missions to member countries.
The person we are looking for should have...
* An advanced university degree in economics. Specialisation in
regional/urban economics would be an advantage.
* Experience in international comparative analysis and/or applied
economic analysis and/or international policy issues in the area
of local economic development policies would be a definite
* Excellent drafting skills; proven ability to organise and
summarise complex material clearly for both specialist and
* Excellent ability to express oneself and draft clearly and
concisely in one of the official languages of the organization
(English and French). Ability to speak other OECD member
countries' languages will be an advantage
* Capacity for self-motivation and innovation. Commitment to
promoting diversity. Drive and persistence to produce high
results on a timely basis.
* Good communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to motivate
consultants and support staff, and to work harmoniously with
colleagues within and outside the Organisation; Motivated to work
as part of a multicultural team.
